Team Update Fall 08

JP Walker's first and extremely hard earned Transworld Cover is on the front of the November 2008 issue. Plus, he's got a full length interview inside. Also, JP was part of surfer Benji Weatherly's action sport cross over film, and they've launched a sick little web site. Check out what Keala has to say about big slabbing barrels, first impressions and more. Cooler Interview Forum or Against Em? LIFE AS A MOVIE

JP Walker, Tosh Townsend, Tony Hawk and Benji Weatherly should never have been allowed to film together. Premiere Mania
September is the start of school, the end of summer, and for anyone in the action sports industry, premiere mania! We're only 10 days into the month and the Infamous crew has already been all over the premiere scene. JP, Seth, Simon and Joe were on hand for the back to back premieres of Double Decade and Down with People at Oakley headquarters. JP talking to Fuel TV about Dawger's 20th video production Joe giving Fuel the run down on his first year filming with the People crew Remember these two from Decade? Here they are for Double Decade The next night JP made an apperance at the etnies sponsored event "Surf.Sand.Chic." held at the W Hotel in San Diego where he was swooped down on by the paparazzi. JP Interview #550 Then JP checked out Benji Weatherly's flick Life As a Movie. JP got to film with Benji and crew in Indonesia and Japan. "Not a super gnarly technical film but it was really well filmed, edited, had a great soundtrack and a really cool story and feel," says Roberta. JP & Seth Summer Update
If a pro snowboarder actually had a down month it would probably be August. Most of them still have plenty going on from Southern Hemisphere trips to product research and design, but August is when they're most likely to chill. JP has been hanging out in Cabo this month surfing, eating good food and celebrating his 11th anniversary. A Nixon meeting or two has been thrown in the mix too, and of course no trip to Mexico would be complete without an encounter with the police. Here's the long and the short of it -after passing a cop car going 10 mph JP's driver's license was held hostage until he coughed up $19 USD to get it back! Good Eats Cabo Sunset Busted by the Mexican Police Seth has been at home in Salt Lake City hanging out with his newborn son and wife. When Seth's not chilling with the fam he's cruising on his bike, skating or hitting up the gym. Seth and Mason Huot Seth's bike Seth Cruising around SLC |

Peace, Love & Another Podium for Spencer O'Brien
Much like the original Woodstock Billabong's Snow Stock at Snow Park NZ had weather problems of its own. Due to heavy winds the qualifiers got shut down early on Day 1. On Day 2 (August 15th in the Southern Hemi/August 14th in the Northern Hemi) the wind died down and Spencer threw down grabbing 2nd place in the Big Air. Just over a week ago Spencer took 3rd in the Burton NZ Open slope, the girl is on a roll! Keep your eye on the TTR Rankings as Spencer is about to make her way up the list. Also, check out Billabong for video highlights from the event. |

Spencer O'Brien Podiums in NZ
In a progressive slopestyle final at the Burton New Zealand Open Spencer O'brien put together solid run after solid run to take 3rd place. Spencer was up against some tough competition from current TTR champ, Jamie Anderson, and finished just 0.67 points behind Cheryl Maas. When asked about the result Spencer, uncharacteristically, had very little to say "I'm just stoked," was her comment. Spencer also made a serious move in the Burton Global Open Series standings moving from number 90 to number 12 this week. Congrats Spencer!!! Wahoo's Walker Tables
Everyone has been asked the question "if you could have dinner with someone famous who would it be?" For many snowboarders the answer to that question is JP Walker. But unless you lurk around his favorite sushi spots the chances of having dinner even in the same restaurant as JP are pretty slim since he's never in one city for very long. The good people at Wahoos Fish Tacos teamed up with 32 to create JP Walker tables that can be found at various Wahoo's locations throughout California. Now you can feel super cool when you tell your friends "last night at dinner I spilt hot sauce on JP Walker." If you've already dined with JP then just check out the photos below. Infamous at Camp of Champions Part 2
Infamous' Joe Sexton headed up to Whistler to join JP and Simon for Stepchild week. Although Joe was fresh off knee surgery he went up the hill to hang with the kids, judge a couple rail contests and hosted his own after-camp activity, “Tie-Dying with Joe” so all the campers could get their inner hippy out. JP also had a shoulder injury so was keeping it mello but along with Simon they were seen on the hill daily lapping the park, riding with the campers, and eating chocolate bars. Off the hill the boys headed to the activity center to skate the mini or host a game of “Bump” on the basketball court. “Bump” became the best after-camp activity at COC with 25+ campers joining JP and Simon for the high energy B-Ball game to win product from Thirtytwo as well as JP’s Signature Oakley goggle. Rules of the game are simple, get a basket before the player behind you gets one or you’re out. To bring it up a notch each player that won a round had to put on all the gear they won to play for the next round! The week capped off with the BBQ and the boys giving away Stepchild boards to some lucky campers! The Stepchild Crew getting ready to head up the lift. Joe Sexton looking fashionable as he heads up the lift Simon presses the picnic tables as a stoked camper looks on. JP is no stranger to Bump as he ruled the court on a nightly basis JP loads up a winner with all her loot for the next game! Infamous at COC
July 5-12th is Stepchild/Nomis week up at Camp of Champions. JP Walker and Simon Chamberlain will be up there all week slaying the park, slapping high fives and maybe taking a nap or two during lunch break. COC Coach, Spencer O'Brien, has been up at camp since day one, and is taking some time off this week to focus on her own riding and to get ready for the Australian and NZ Opens. Billabong is also at camp this week, which means Brooke Voigt made the trek out from Fort McMurray, Alberta to hit the jumps and play around in the rail garden. |
